Verizon to Employ 1,300 in Huntsville
A Verizon Wireless headquarters and service center will be constructed in Huntsville. The project will create 1,300 jobs and is expected to be completed by late 2007.
BellAero Expanding Ozark Plant
BellAero is adding 355,000 square feet to its helicopter maintenance and refurbishing facility in Ozark. The project is expected to add 300 new jobs.
Shwinco Industry Expands in Dothan
Shwinco Industries, builder and supplier of vinyl window and door products, will expand its operations in Dothan. At full production, the company will employ about 150 people.
Austal Plans Major Expansion in Mobile
Shipbuilding company Austal USA, has announced a multi-million dollar expansion that includes adding a pair of 18,000 square-foot buildings at its site on the Mobile River. The company also plans to add about 250 new employees.
Aerospace Company Selects Albertville
Aerospace Integration Corporation has chosen the Albertville Municipal Airport to build a 100,000 square-foot aircraft completion center. The $12 million facility will be used to assemble helicopters for the U.S. Army and other military services as well as civilian customers. The facility will initially employ 300 with plans to increase that number to 500.
Distribution Center Going to Fort Payne
The Children’s Place Retail Stores, Inc. will build a 700,000 square-foot distribution center in Fort Payne. The company will invest $55 million and create 300 new jobs with another 300 to be added later.
Gold Kist Expanding in Guntersville
Food processor Gold Kist announced plans for an 80,000 square-foot expansion of its Guntersville plant. The expansion will add 200 new jobs brining total employment at the plant to 1,450.
Colsa to Add More than 100 New Jobs at Huntsville Facility
IT service provider Colsa Corp. will expand in Huntsville and hire 124 new employees in a 124,000 square-foot facility. The new building where the company will locate will also house a number of NASA and Department of Defense-related research and support activities.
Goodrich Plans Foley Expansion
Goodrich Aerospace has selected its Foley operation for an expansion that will create about 160 new manufacturing jobs. At its Foley facility, Goodrich makes aviation parts and repairs aircraft.
Kommerling Expanding in Huntsville
Kommerling USA is adding 100,000 square feet to its PVC foam exstrusion plant in Huntsville. About 60 new jobs will be created in the deal.
ARKANSAS
Big Deal in Jonesboro
Ilinois-based Alberto-Culver Co., announced in mid-December that is is building a 500,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Jonesboro, Ark., that will house about 400 workers. The new plant will produce personal care products such as Alberto VO5, St. Ives and Nexxus brand products. The company is investing $60 million in the deal.
Entergy, SAIC Opening Data Center in Little Rock
New Orleans-based Entergy Corp., a four-state utility and Science Applications International announced in the late fall quarter they will place a data center in Little Rock. The new data center will create about 100 news jobs, most in the IT and engineering fields.
Stanley Opening Operation in Hot Springs
Virginia-based Stanley, Inc., a provider of systems integration and professional services to the federal government, announced in the fall quarter is it opening a new facility in Hot Springs, Ark., that will house about 150 full-time workers. Stanley will operate two book personalization facilities in Hot Springs to produce U.S. passports and other travel documents.
Procter & Gamble Expanding
Procter & Gamble, which has operated in Fayetteville, Ark., since 1988, is expanding its presence there. In the fall quarter, the Ohio-based company began construction on a new 66,000-square-foot building that will produce a variety of products for Wal-Mart stores, which is headquartered in nearby Bentonville, Ark.
Raytheon Adding Space in Little Rock
Kansas-based Raytheon Aircraft announced in the fall quarter it is building a new 54,000-square-foot hanger adding 60,000 square feet to its existing facilities at Little Rock's Adams Field. The company is investing about $16 million in the expansion and will add about 150 workers to its current work force of 645.

SRI International Selects St. Pete
SRI International, one of the world's leading independent research and technology development organizations, announced in the fall it has selected St. Petersburg as the site for a new marine technology research facility. The University of South Florida's College of Marine Science and its Center for Ocean Technology was cited as the primary reason SRI chose a site in Tampa Bay.
Valpak Expands in Tampa Bay
Valpak, a division of Cox Target Media, is expanding in St. Pete. The company is investing $200 million and will add 500,000 square feet and over 1,000 new jobs.
Hewitt Associates Adds 300 New Jobs in Central Florida
Hewitt Associates announced in the fall quarter it is adding 300 new jobs in the Orlando area at the Central Florida Research Park. The company is the world's largest multi-service provider of HR outsourcing and consulting.
Dunkin' Donuts Relocates Distribution Center to Central Florida
Dunkin' Donuts has relocated its Florida/Georgia distribution center from Atlanta to Groveland, Fla. The 131,000-square-foot center will house about 70 new workers.
GEORGIA
ADP to Create 1,000 Jobs in Augusta
Global business solutions provider Automatic Data Processing, Inc. (ADP) will locate a business solutions center in Augusta, investing more than $30 million and creating 1,000 new jobs. The new ADP Solution Center will open in late 2007.
Newell Rubbermaid to Build Atlanta Headquarters
Newell Rubbermaid Inc. will construct a 350,000 square-foot Atlanta headquarters with a fall 2008 move-in date. In addition to constructing its new headquarters, Newell Rubbermaid will also add up to 350 positions in Georgia. Newell Rubbermaid, a global marketer of consumer and commercial products, originally moved its corporate headquarters to Atlanta in 2003 and since that time has tripled its number of employees in the Atlanta market.
Medac to Expand with New Facility in Lincoln County
Anesthesia billing provider Medac will invest $2 million and create 300 new jobs over three years in Lincoln County. Medac is based in Augusta, Georgia.
Scotland-based Company to Locate First U.S. Headquarters in Atlanta
Redeem plc of Scotland has selected Atlanta for its new U.S. headquarters. The company, operating in the United States as Recycling Appeal USA, expects to create more than 100 new jobs. Redeem plc is an international leader in the recovery, reuse, and recycling of used printer cartridges and mobile phones.
Xella Aircrete USA to Locate New Plant in Adel
A leader in the European construction materials market, Xella International, will locate its first U.S. plant in Adel, creating 100 new jobs and investing $20 million. The German company plans to have its facility operational by spring 2007.
KANSAS
Pacific Sunwear to Build Distribution Center
California-based Pacific Sunwear is building a 420,000-square-foot distribution center in Olathe, Kan., the company announced in the fall. The deal represents a $40 million investment and about 250 new jobs.
KENTUCKY
Aerospace Component Facility to Locate in Somerset
A new aerospace component manufacturing facility will locate in Somerset to produce aircraft components for Schweizer Aircraft, a subsidiary of Sikorsky Aircraft. The new facility will create up to 100 new jobs and represents a $1.9 million investment.
Dart Container Corporation Breaks Ground on Major Expansion in Hart County
Dart Container Corporation, which manufactures disposable food service products, broke ground on a major expansion that will create 412 new jobs. The expansion project calls for the conversion of existing warehouse space into production space, the addition of a new production line, and the purchase of new equipment for the facility as well as construction of a new warehouse and distribution center.
GSI to Locate New Fulfillment Center in Boone County
GSI Commerce, Inc., a provider of e-commerce solutions, announced plans to open its fifth Kentucky fulfillment center. The newest center will be locate in Boone County and will employ 500 within three years. The company, which already has facilities in Louisville and Shepherdsville, will locate its new facility in Richwood, 10 miles south of downtown Cincinnati.
DataTrac to Create 250 New Jobs
Datatrac Information Services opened its new 250-employee facility in Williamsburg, Ky., in the fall quarter. The company stores digital files for the federal government.
New Jobs Coming to Hart County
T. Marzetti Company will locate its newest Sister Schubert’s Homemade Rolls, Inc. facility in Horse Cave, creating 298 jobs and investing $35 million. Sister Schubert, a manufacturer of yeast rolls, frozen dinner rolls, and other bread products, will construct a new 105,000 square-foot facility that will be up-and-running by summer 2007.
Pan-Oston Expanding in Bowling Green
Pan Oston is expanding its Bowling Green manufacturing facility, creating 200 new jobs. Pan-Oston, an industry leader in the development and manufacturing of check-out and other retail fixture systems, will invest $8 million.

Jeld-Wen Manufacturing Facility Locating in Winn Parish
Jeld-Wen, the world’s largest manufacturer of reliable windows and doors, will build a door facings plant in Winn Parish in rural Louisiana. The company expects to hire 75 people and will use wood chips from Louisiana.
Manufacturing Facility to Bring $80 Million Investment to St. James Parish
Louisiana Pipe and Steel Fabricators, LLC will locate its new piping fabrication manufacturing facility in St. James Parish. The company plans to invest $80 million and create approximately 470 new jobs.

Item International to Open NA Distribution Center
Item International, a German supplier of aluminum extrusion products and accessories for machine building and framing, announced in the fall it is opening a distrubution center in Washington County, Md.

ACCO Brands Breaks Ground on Booneville Expansion
Office products company ACCO Brands Corporation has broken ground on an expansion at the company’s facility in Booneville. The expansion will add more than 300 new jobs.
Starkville Lands California Manufacturer
A California-based manufacturer of wearable fuel cells that will be used by the military as well as the consumer industry announced in the fall it has chosen Starkville, Miss., for a new facility. The deal was done in conjunction with Mississippi State University and the company will use researchers at MSU to help develop its product.
MISSOURI
Indian Company Plans to Purchase Colgate's KCK Plant
VVF, based in Mumbai, India, is purchasing the former Colgate Palmolive facility in Kansas City and will invest an additional $6 million in upgrades. VVF will produce soap and shampoo at the plant and about 60 workers are expected to be hired.
Nestle Purina Plans $36M Expansion
Nestle Purina PetCare is undergoing a $36 million expansion of its plant in St. Joseph, Mo. The expansion will add about 40 new jobs in 2007.
NORTH CAROLINA
Plastics Company Picks Rocky Mount
New Jersey-based PenCell Plastics announced in the late fall quarter that it will occupy an existing 170,000-square-foot facility in Rocky Mount, N.C. About 150 jobs are expected to be created in the deal, which represents an investment of $5.5 million.
BSH Home Appliances to Expand in Craven County
BSH Home Appliances will expand its New Bern manufacturing facility adding more than 200 jobs during the next five years and investing $11 million. The company makes and distributes large appliances and has U.S. factories in LaFollette, Tenn. and New Bern.
Malt-O-Meal to Open Manufacturing Plant in Asheboro
Minnesota-based cereal maker Malt-O-Meal Company will open a manufacturing facility in Asheboro, creating 164 new jobs and investing $104 million. Malt-O-Meal plans to move into a building being vacated by another food processing company.
System Plast Expanding in Lee County
System Plast, makers of conveyor system components, will expand in Lee County creating 160 new jobs and investing $4.25 million. The expansion will consolidate the company’s Sanford and Pennsylvania operations into one facility in Lee County.

Newell Rubbermaid, a leading manufacturer and marketer of household products, will expand its Huntersville campus. The company will invest $2.55 million and create 320 new jobs over the next five years.

Hanes Geo-Components, a landscaping supply company, will open a manufacturing and distribution facility in Nash County creating 212 new jobs and investing $4.5 million. The company is building a new facility in Middlesex.
IWCO Direct Bringing 98 Jobs to Wilson County
IWCO Direct, a Minnesota-based direct mail company, will take over operation of an Elm City, N.C. manufacturing plant previously scheduled to close in 2007. The move means the retention of 440 jobs and the creation of 98 new jobs in Wilson County.
Ralph Lauren Media Relocating to Guilford County
Delaware-based Ralph Lauren Media LLC will invest $11.8 million to open a customer service center that will bring 200 new jobs to High Point. Construction of the facility will begin in December 2006 and the facility is expected to open in summer 2007.

Plastics company Darnel Inc. will open a manufacturing plant in Union County creating 100 jobs and investing about $20 million. The new plant will be located in the community of Monroe and will produce plastic foam containers for the food industry.

Carolina Precision Plastics will expand its North Carolina operations, creating 150 new jobs in Guilford County and investing $4.5 million. The company specializes in injection molded plastics.
Vantage Foods to Locate Plant in Caldwell County
Vantage Foods will open a meat processing plant in Caldwell County, creating 183 jobs and investing $21.1 million. The company will open a meat cutting and processing facility in Lenoir by early 2007.
Mack Industries Picks Sharpsburg, N.C.
Ohio-based Mack Industries announced in the fall quarter it has purchased an existing building in Nash County, N.C. The deal will create about 50 new jobs. The company makes precast concrete construction materials.

New Beef Processing Plant to Create as Many as 3,000 Jobs
Smithfield Beef Group, Inc. and ContiGroup Companies, Inc. will form a joint venture to build a new beef processing plant in Texas County, Okla. The facility will be the first of its size in more than 20 years in the U.S. and cost is estimated to be $200 million.

3M Expanding Film Operations in Greenville
3M announced in late November it is expanding its film manufacturing operation in Greenville, S.C. The $100 million expansion will begin this year and will add about 50 new jobs to the company's current work force of 435.
ACI Industries to Locate in Laurens
ACI Industries, a manufacturer of ceramic products announced plans to purchase an existing building in the community of Laurens. The company will invest $10 million over five years and hire approximately 100.
Medical Management Facility to Open in Beaufort
CareCore National, LLC is constructing a new office building in Bluffton. The company, which provides utilization management and quality assurance of medical diagnostic imaging services for major health plans, will employ 300.
International Specialty Materials Manufacturer to Open Facility in Bishopville
Ahlstrom, a Finland-based company specializing in fiber-based materials, will start manufacturing operations in the Lee County community of Bishopville, investing $100 million and creating 100 jobs.
Plastics Manufacturer to Open Chester Facility
Poly-America, L.P., which manufactures polyethylene products, will locate a new plant in Chester County that will create 400 jobs. The new plant represents a $100 million investment.
TENNESSEE
ServiceMaster Headquarters Moving to Memphis
Fortune 500 company ServiceMaster will move its corporate headquarters to Memphis. The announcement means that more than 150 headquarters positions will be transitioning from the company’s current location in Downers Grove, Illinois. In addition, the company will create several hundred additional jobs at the Memphis headquarters over the next five years.
Touchstone Wireless Announces Expansion in Sullivan County
Touchstone Wireless LP, a wireless repair/refurbishing company, will expand its operations, creating more than 200 new jobs. The company currently employs 430 at its Bristol facility.
Dell Adding 1,000 New Jobs in Tennessee
Round-Rock, Tex.-based computer maker Dell announced recently it is adding 1,000 new customer contact jobs at its Tennessee facilities. The company already employs about 3,500 workers in the Volunteer State, the majority of those in Nashville.
Al’s Garden Art Opens Facility in Maury County
Al’s Garden Art, a family-owned wholesale manufacturer of cast stone fountains and statuary, will open a 240,000 square-foot manufacturing and distribution facility. The company will create up to 100 new jobs in the first year and up to 400 within five years.

After earning a multi-billion dollar contract from NASA to build the Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle for America’s human spaceflight program, Lockheed Martin has announced that it will bring about 1,000 new jobs to the Houston area. The company will invest $68 million.
TRACE Engines Bringing More than 100 New Jobs to Midland-Odessa
More than 100 new jobs are coming to the Permian Basin area of Texas. TRACE Engines, maker of high performance aircraft engines, will invest $4.5 million in a new facility in the Midland-Odessa area.

More than 400 IT Jobs Coming to Virginia
Command Information will open America’s first IPv6 training center in the town of Herndon in Fairfax County. IPv6 is the next generation Internet protocol designed to bring advanced reliability, flexibility, and security to the Internet. The project will create 400 new Information Technology networking, design and security jobs.
IKEA Subsidiary Swedwood to Build First U.S. Manufacturing Facility
Swedwood North America, a furniture manufacturer and subsidiary of IKEA, will build its North American manufacturing operation in the Pittsylvania/Danville Area. The company, which will produce furniture for IKEA home furnishing stores in North America, expects to complete the first of three phases by the end of 2007. The Swedwood facility will eventually employ 740.
Logistics Company Announces 100 Jobs in Chesapeake
NYK Logistics Inc., which provides supply chain services for the retail industry including warehousing and distribution, will open a new distribution facility in the City of Chesapeake, creating 100 new jobs. The total project investment is $26 million.
Building Components Company to Locate in West Point
U.S. Components, LLC, a manufacturer of roof, floor, and wall trusses, will invest $6.4 million to open its first Virginia manufacturing facility in West Point. The company plans to create 104 new jobs.
100 New Jobs Announced for Buckingham County
Water World Fiberglass Pools, N.E. Inc. will invest $3 million to open a facility in Buckingham County. The company will create 100 new jobs, with up to 50 additional employees to be hired for seasonal demands.
Australian Steel Company to Open First North American Facility in Botetourt County

Huntington Customer Service Center to Bring 300 New Jobs
GC Services LP will spend $1.9 million to open its second Huntington, W.Va. customer service center. The new center will create 300 jobs.
U.S. Coast Guard to Open Maritime Center in Martinsburg
The U.S. General Services Administration awarded a $30 million contract to build the U.S. Coast Guard National Maritime Center in downtown Martinsburg, which will bring 250 jobs to the area. The facility is expected to be completed by fall 2007.
Ukrainian Company Opens First U.S. Operations
Felman Production Inc. will soon start production at its New Haven, W.Va. ferroalloys plant, its first U.S. operation. The company plans to employ 220 by the end of 2007.
