Solectron Expands in Charlotte, University City
Solectron Corporation, a provider of electronics manufacturing and supply-chain management services, will add 600 jobs to its operations in Charlotte and expand its University City facility to handle increased production demand
Milpitas-California-based Solectron has acquired a 225,000 square foot building adjacent to its existing Charlotte manufacturing and operations center, bringing the facility to about 1.1 million square feet. The facility will employ 3,850 workers, up from 3,250.
Everdream to Hire 350 in Charlotte
A Fremont, California-based company will open a computer outsourcing operation that will employ 350 people in Charlotte. Everdream Corporation will, for a monthly fee, provide a company with personal computers and software, high-speed Internet access and e-mail services.
Encore to Hire 150 at New Plant
Chandler, Arizona-based Encore Products, a company that makes enclosures for computers, has leased more than 73,000 square feet for a manufacturing plant in Charlotte, and will hire 150 people. Currently, the company ships all its enclosures from its Chandler manufacturing site. The new Charlotte manufacturing facility will cut the companys delivery time to its east coast customers in half.
Rowan County to Gain 140 Jobs
A Michigan truck and auto components manufacturer will build an $18 million facility in Rowan County employing 140 people and supplying the nearby Freightliner tractor plant. Meridian Automotive Systems is buying the unfinished 255,000 square foot Quantum Films building near Salisbury, and will begin production next year. It will make molded front-end modules and other equipment used by Freightliner and other tractor-trailer manufacturers.
Wells Fargo Adding 150 Jobs in Charlotte
Wells Fargo Home Mortgage is expanding in Charlotte, adding 150 employees and leasing 40,000 square feet of space at the Belk Stores Services building in the Coliseum area.
Plastic Tubing Maker to Open Plant in Statesville
A Belgium-based company will open a plastic tubing production facility in Statesville, representing a $5.5 million investment and 75 new jobs. Plastiflex Company will open in a 66,000 square foot building in Sherrill Industrial Park. Its the companys 11th plant on five continents. The plant will allow Plastiflex to supply customers throughout the Southeast.
Graybar Electric Selects Greensboro
Graybar Electric Co., an international distributor of electrical and communications products, is establishing a business division in Greensboro that will create up to 150 jobs. Graybar has leased 25,400 square feet of space in the Triad Center office building. The new division is being created to handle procurement services the company provides to Lucent Technologies.
