Virginia Attracted Over $6 Billion in New Investments in 2000

Corporate capital investment in Virginia exceeded $6 billion in 2000. The previous state record for investment capital to the state was $5.8 billion in 1995, according to the Virginia Economic Development Partnership. Infineon Technologies Richmond, a chip producer, made a recent announcement to invest $1.1 billion and create 1,100 new jobs in Henrico County. Other large announcements from America Online, Wal-Mart and Capital One were major contributors to the state's successful year.
