Viking Expansion Adds Manufacturing Capacity

Viking Range Corporation will expand its Greenwood plant in order to add new manufacturing processes and new equipment to its operations. The 80,000-square-foot plant, which makes cooking ranges and ovens, will gain new space in the fabrication, porcelain-coating and assembly areas. New laser equipment, including two new punching cells, will be installed. The plants porcelain system will be upgraded, and a new liquid porcelain system will be installed. The company will add several new prodcut assembly lines to accomodate the new Viking Designer Series and other new lines. A manufacturer of commercial-style appliances for the home, Viking operates 180,000 square feet of manufacturing space in several facilities that produce ranges, rangetops, refrigerators and ovens. Viking currently employs 610 people in Greenwood.
