Two
Announcements from Corning to Create 1000 Jobs in Cabarrus
County
Corning
Inc., will invest $450 million in its new Cabarrus County
optical-fiber manufacturing facility. This is the company's
second announcement this year. In February, Corning announced
plans to spend $550 million to double capacity at the facility.
The latest expansion will add 450 jobs, and the February
announcement added 550 jobs.
CommScope
to Hire 150 People in Cleveland County
CommScope,
the Hickory-based cable manufacturer, will build a 200,000-square-foot
coaxial cable plant on 85 acres in Cleveland County that
will employ 150 people. CommScope, which already operates
plants in Catawba and Iredell counties, needed additional
capacity to meet the demand for cable.

Ground Relocates to Union Cross
FedEx
Ground will move its local terminal from Greensboro to Union
Cross Business Park in Winston-Salem. The company will buy
18 acres in the industrial park, and build a 115,000-square-foot
building. The relocation will create 200 jobs.
Textile
Maker to Open Plant in Mooresville
A German
company will open a U.S. headquarters and production facility
in Mooresville. Saertex USA will invest $14 million in a
new 21,000-square-foot building at Talbert Pointe Business
Park. The facility will produce a high-tech fabric used
in aircraft and automobiles. The plant will initially hire
10 people, with that number expected to increase.
Charlotte
Textile Company Moving to Gaston County
A Charlotte
fabric-knitting operation has bought a 42,000-square-foot
building near Belmont with plans to move its operation there
from Charlotte. Textum Weaving officials say the move will
be done in April.
